How to monetize your content

There are multiple methods to monetize links on your website, platform, app and beyond with Skimlinks.

JavaScript

Installing the JavaScript on your website is the best way to get the most out of Skimlinks. The JavaScript automatically transforms organic links into affiliate links to help you generate revenue from your content.

Implementing the JavaScript also means that you can track link clicks and learn which content drives the most traffic and revenue, helping you optimize your content strategy and continue creating content your readers love. Benefits of the JavaScript:

• Automatically convert new and existing links to affiliate links.

The JavaScript can be added directly to your site template just before the </body> tag, by using Google Tag Manager or directly into popular CMS and platforms like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Squarespace, Weebly and Blogger. Link Wrapper

The JavaScript is an automated solution for monetizing your website. The Link Wrapper lets you monetize links beyond websites – such as within your app, platform, on social media, in newsletters, and even print! This also applies to syndicated content.

There are a few ways to implement Link Wrapper:

Editor Toolbar

To monetize links using the Editor Toolbar, you first need to download it from the Toolbox. Next, search for a product on Google that you want to feature in your commerce content and click get link.

The Editor Toolbar automatically grabs the URL and creates an affiliate short or long link that you can easily share on social media, newsletters and more.

Link Generator
An alternative to the Editor Toolbar is creating links through the Link Generator in the Publisher Hub. Simply choose a site to track generated links through, and paste the URL to turn it into an affiliate link. Additionally, to track your link performance you can input:

• Referring page URL – if you are hard-coding the link into a specific article, add the article URL to view performance in the Page Report.
• Custom ID – to be used for internal tracking purposes, such as Author Name / ID, Unique Customer ID, Content Category, Article ID, or Distribution channel.

Generate a short link and use it across your social media channels, add to print articles or even throw it up on a billboard.

Server-side Implementation
Server-side Implementation is a way to integrate Link Wrapper as part of your CMS systems to automatically monetize links. It is therefore a more complex, engineering solution from the Publisher’s side.

Server-side Implementation will integrate the Merchant API to monetize relevant links in your articles.

Skimlinks AMP

The Skimlinks Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) integration helps you easily affiliate your commerce links on AMP articles.

Like the Skimlinks JavaScript, the Skimlinks AMP integration is a couple of lines of code that needs to be applied to AMP pages. Once this is done, links will automatically be affiliated and publishers will start generating revenue from their AMP articles. We recommend implementing it alongside our other solutions to streamline your monetization in one platform.
