What is Product Key?

A Product Key is a unique technical identifier required to authenticate API requests or integrate Skimlinks with specific third-party platforms. This feature is available exclusively for Managed accounts and is not required for standard website monetization.

Do I need a Product Key?

• Standard Users (Growth Tier): No. If you use the Skimlinks JavaScript, the WordPress plugin, or the Link Generator, you do not need a Product Key. Your installation works automatically without it.
• Advanced Users (Managed Tier): Yes. You only need a Product Key if you are using the Skimlinks API or specific manual integrations that require a secure authentication key.

How to find your Product Key (Managed Accounts Only)

If you are a Managed partner, you can locate your key in the dashboard:

1. Log in to the Publisher Hub.
2. Navigate to Settings > Account.
3. Look for the field labeled "Product Key".
4. Copy the alphanumeric code for use in your technical integration.

• Note: If the field is empty or not visible, it means your account is in the Growth Tier, and the Product Key is not available for your account type.

Product Key vs. Publisher ID

It is common to confuse these two identifiers. Here is the difference:

• Product Key: A long, technical authentication string used exclusively for API access. Only Managed accounts have one.
