Installing the Javascript
To start using Skimlinks you will need to install the javascript on your website. Our Javascript is loaded asynchronously so it can be placed anywhere on the site and does not affect load times. Please follow the below instructions to install the Javascript and please ensure it is installed on every page of your site.
-
Copy the unique Javascript code snippet from your Publisher Hub and paste into your site template. You can paste it just before the closing
</body>
tag of your page at the very end of your page, in your footer. Here's how it could look:<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <!-- [...some code...] --> <body> <!-- [...some more code that should precede the line below...] --> <script type="text/javascript" src="//s.skimresources.com/js/12345X67890.skimlinks.js"></script> </body> </html>
Note: You must use a different unique Javascript code snippet for each site
Once the code is installed on your site, Skimlinks will start working immediately; however, it can take up to 24 hours for data to appear in your Publisher Hub.
Please be advised that having more than 1 line of the Skimlinks code installed causes the installation to fail. For this reason, please make sure that only one instance of the code has been placed on your site. Having Ad Blocking technology (or any other link blocking add-ons) may also cause Skimlinks and the test link to fail.
Checking the installation is working
- Copy the code snippet
<a href="http://test.skimlinks.com">Skimlinks Test</a>
- Place it anywhere on your site. If you've only installed Skimlinks on certain pages, add this link to one of those pages.
- Open your page in any browser and click on "Skimlinks Test".
- If you arrive on the Success page, Skimlinks is running and working!
- If you arrive on the Error page, make sure you have followed part 2 by putting the code snippet in the correct place.
